Roundtable SFO Meeting

June 3, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

This is your chance to show your support and be heard at the SFO Community Roundtable meeting.

According to their web site, the Airport/Community Roundtable was established in 1981 as a voluntary committee to address community noise impacts from aircraft operations at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The Roundtable monitors a performance-based noise mitigation program implemented by airport staff, interprets community concerns and attempts to achieve noise mitigation through a cooperative sharing of authority among the aviation industry, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), SFO management and local government.

The authority to control aircraft in flight and on the ground is vested exclusively in the FAA. The FAA, however, cannot control the number of flights nor the time of day of aircraft operations. Federal law preempts any local government agency from implementing any action that is intended to control the routes of aircraft in flight. Neither the Roundtable, local elected officials nor airport management can control the routes of aircraft in flight or on the ground.

  • Recently air traffic has been rerouted in Santa Cruz County California. Specifically we are in the 95033 zip code. I believe this violates the RICO code and am seeking to have the FAA return to the previous flight paths rather than having to seek legal remedies.

When we purchased our property 14 years ago we were aware of the existing flight patterns and took that into consideration, both from a quality of life perspective and that of property value and investment.

Recently the flight path has shifted significantly impacting not only our zip code but may others.

I have constant headaches now and further have cause to believe our property value has fallen due to this noise and low flying. Additionally we are being harmed economically since our property is zoned Agricultural. So, personal quality of life, property value and economic harm has occurred due to these new flight paths.

RICO permits a private individual “damaged in his business or property” by a “racketeer” to file a civil suit. The plaintiff must prove the existence of an “enterprise”. The defendant(s) are not the enterprise; in other words, the defendant(s) and the enterprise are not one and the same. Private airlines are the enterprise.

The FAA has clearly damaged my business and property rights as an individual.
